A Northern Killing field- Wolves?

A few years ago I had one of my real dreams, (as real as You and me) where I was standing in the dream. It began in the Skeena and Bulkley valleys with small talk in the homes of a few residents that there were small wolf encounters in different parts of the valleys. Soon people native and non-native began phoning around that there were some wolves attacking humans.
The talk began, a full encore, with everyone wanting a meeting so a large meeting was called. Non-Natives and Natives who never talked in years now mingled and openly talked of a number of violent attacks. The dialogue sparked a call to band together and rid the valley of the predator, some said humane trapping, and others said bring in the army and bomb the forests.
The meeting had no sooner become a mob, when someone came running into the building yelling, “Wolves are howling outside!”
The mob began to run home for guns, very unorganized people started arriving at the meeting hall. Some people tried to organize the group while some people didn’t wait they heroically began to shoot in the air while others admired each others armament.
Suddenly in the distant mountain field someone spotted a wolf. The frenzy began. Shots were coming from all over the place, people raced to get the first kill, the mob started up the mountain valley, while others took they’re time. Some people tried to call the mob to order to no avail. You could hear the sounds of rapid fire coming from up the valley, others were still trying to call the people back, the mob had four wheelers, trucks, family cars, mountain bikes, this was going to be a wolf kill! As the mob disappeared in the distance you suddenly heard the sound of engines stopping they were running out of gas and running out of shells. Soon the engines all stopped and a dead silence over came the valleys. Out of different parts of the valley you heard the call of four or five dominant wolves.
Just as suddenly the people had begun to retreat, the wolves were now on the attack, you could hear people screaming, the wolves killed at will! The mob began the open run back to the town hall. We started to look for cover, someone had a ladder and the people began to get on the roof the large hall meeting place. The people fought hand to hand at what soon to become relentless, it was a wolf fest. The remaining members of the valleys now filled the roof. The wolves gathered below the building. As if by nothing a silence came over the crowd on the roof. The building began to creak. Members of the crowd called for calm, if we moved the building was going to collapse. The wolves sat motionless around the hall, while different members of the roof slowly lost their cool, with each creak in the sounds of the building. The Chiefs and the Mayors tried to sooth the unsteady group. Each character weakness began to show, as the buildings creaks became louder no one would listen to each other.
The mob moved, and wolves readied themselves for the imminent victory. The building gave way! I awoke to the sounds of death!
seconds later...I’m alive. But! Why couldn’t we save ourselves?
